Recognize the Lie
01 — READ
John 8:31–36
Read this passage slowly in your Bible.
02 — UNDERSTAND
Jesus connects knowing the truth with remaining in His word. In this passage He speaks about slavery to sin and the freedom the Son gives. Truth is more than a comforting slogan.
Notice a belief that keeps shaping an unfaithful response. Do not label every painful feeling or unwanted thought a lie or a demon. Sadness may be honest; a thought arriving is not the same as choosing it. Test the belief in context, with Scripture and wise counsel.
03 — REFLECT
Be honest before God.
What am I assuming? What evidence supports it, and what does Scripture actually say?
Keep your response private. Speak to God or write in your own notebook.
04 — PRAY
Speak honestly to God.
Jesus, help me remain in Your word. Show me where I believe what is false. Give me honesty, patience, and freedom to follow You. Amen.
05 — RESPOND / PRACTICE
Practice one faithful step.
- Consider one recurring belief—not every passing thought. Read John 8:31–36 in context and discuss uncertainty with a mature believer.
